Add a custom type to a detail tab

The procedure below describes how to add a custom type as a case detail tab. The same procedure is applicable if you want to add a custom type to document detail tabs or contact detail tabs.

  1. Custom types can be added to case, document or contact detail tabs as any other detail tab.
  2. Open a detail page, for example, the case detail page.
  3. In the detail ribbon, click Select tabs to view to open the Tab selector pane. The available tabs are displayed in the left pane and the tabs in use are displayed in the right pane.
  4. In the left tab of the Tab selector pane, locate the custom types you want to add to the case detail page. Custom types are displayed by name with any relevant custom type reference fields in parentheses. If there is only one custom type field that can be used as a reference, the name of the field will not be displayed.
  5. Select the custom type with contains the case reference field you want to use as a connector to the case and drag it to the desired position in the right pane. You can also click Select item to add it to the right pane.
  6. If you want to rename the tab that contains the custom type, click Rename next to the current tab title and enter a new name. This name will be displayed for this tab only and other users can enter their own names for their tabs.
  7. Click Save to save your changes and close the Tab selector pane.
