Entity validation rules

About entity validation rules

Entity validation rules are custom rules and limitations for updating a WorkZone entity (a case, a contact, a document, or a custom type).

Your WorkZone administrator can set up entity validation rules in WorkZone Configurator to disable or restrict the possibility of updating a WorkZone entity, until certain criteria are met. For example, your organization might decide to disable the possibility to close cases that contain any non-archived documents, or to make it mandatory for all documents to have a letter date. See Entity validation rules for more information.

If you try to edit an entity that has validation rules applied to it, and your update will not meet the specified criteria, you will see an error message with the reason of a failed update and a link to the entity item, so you go directly to it and perform the needed changes (for example, to archive any non-archived documents on a case, or to fill in the letter date for all documents).

  • For multiple edited items, click the arrow to expand the error message for each item.
  • After you have fixed the required details, click Retry to retry updating these items, or click Skip to skip the failed items and proceed with the remaining ones.
